The Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Saturday at Tropicana Field for game two of their series.
The Tampa Bay Rays left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth and fell to the Angels in game one of their series. Ben Zobrist, Matt Joyce, Evan Longoria, Yunel Escobar, and Cole Figueroa each had two hits as the Rays scored just three times on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson allowed six hits and four runs while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rays start Chris Archer who is coming off of a loss in his last start. For the season Archer has allowed 116 hits and 47 earned runs while striking out 108 over 125.2 innings for a 6-6 record and a 3.37 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels were outhit on Friday but they capitalized on their chances and got the win at Tampa Bay. Mike Trout and Josh Hamilton each hit home runs and David Freese and Chris Ianetta each had two hits as the Angels scored five times on 10 hits. Startiing pitcher Matt Shoemaker allowed eight hits and three runs over 5.0 innings to get the win and go to 9-3 for the season and Huston Street picked up his fifth save as a member of the Angels. For Saturday’s game the Angels start C.J. Wilson who makes his return from the 15 day DL. For the season Wilson has allowed 107 hits and 56 earned runs whiles striking out 107 over 116.1 innings for an 8-6 record and a 4.33 ERA.
Tampa Bay is 8-0 in game two of a series, 1-6 as a home underdog, and 1-4 in Archer’s last five home starts. Los Angeles is 27-10 in their last 37 games, 6-2 in their last eight road games, and 0-6 in Wilson’s last six road starts. Los Angeles has win five of their last six against Tampa Bay.
Wilson has been awful and until we see him make it out of the fourth inning I have to go the other way.
