The Atlanta Braves wrap up their weekend set with the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
Atlanta can go in to a funk at the plate without notice which has been the case the past week. The result was four straight defeats which became five straight after Saturday's 3-2 loss in 12 innings. Ervin Santana was very good with two runs plated over six frames before Craig Kimbrel absorbed the loss with a run scored in the bottom of the 12th. Atlanta had many chances on eleven hits and seven BB with Freddie Freeman and Chris Johnson driving in runs. Aaron Harang takes the ball in Sunday's final game at San Diego. Harang is having a solid season with a 9-6 and 3.43 ERA in 22 outings covering 136.1 innings.

I've come to the conclusion that banking on San Diego to score runs is generally futile even when they hit and score on one night the bats can go dead silent the next. That statement held true Saturday after scoring 10 times in the opener the Padres the Padres barely did anything in a game two win. Fortunately Ian Kennedy held the Braves to a run through five frames but unfortunately Kevin Quackenbush gave up an 8th inning run to blow a 2-1 lead. Yangervis Solarte drove in a run and scored twice with the second run coming in the 12th when he was plated from 3rd base on Will Venable's walkoff single. Tyson Ross toes the rubber in Sunday's series finale' versus visiting Atlanta. Ross has thrown the ball well the entire year and has been very effective as of late with three straight wins and a 0.95 ERA.
I watched Saturday's game because I was on San Diego and what I say is betting either team can be agonizing and just not worth it. I'll back the Padres in what is a complete tossup and I won't be surprised by what happens and probably won't care because I'm not betting this one...
