The playoff hopeful Kansas City Royals look for a win at Chase Field versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Kansas City has emerged from a long slow down to post wins in seven of ten contests as they travel to Arizona for the series opener. The key is continuing the hot streak and keeping the pressure on AL Central leading Detroit. It was mission accomplished as the Royals exploded for a 12-2 win at Chase Field behind great hitting and another solid start from Danny Duffy who allowed a single run over five innings. KC racked up 15 hits with Billy Butler, Salvador Perez and Norichika Aoki clubbing long balls and driving in a combined ten runs. Kansas City is scheduled to start rookie Yordano Ventura versus Arizona on Wednesday. Ventura has logged back to back quality starts with four earned runs plated over 13.1 innings of work.

The Diamondbacks have been out of the National League West playoff conversation since the early going but in all honesty I don't know if a good start would have made a difference with the way San Francisco and the Dodgers have played. Not a whole lot went favorably for Arizona Tuesday with starter Wade Miley tagged for ten runs on nine hits including a pair of homers through 4.2 innings pitched. The offense was behind the eight ball and stayed there with just five hits and a pair of free passes to lean on with Didi Gregorius and Mark Trumbo recording RBI's. Josh Collmenter toes the rubber in his first ever meeting with Kansas City. Collmenter has not been at his best the past two times out with a combined nine runs given up on 15 hits in eight frames.
Kansas City is red hot which makes it hard to go against them but Ventura is still young so we have to be cautious. I'll still go with the surging Royals...
