The Kansas City Royals look to end their interleague road series with a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Kansas City has been looking like the team that held the lead for a short time in the American League Central but the question is whether they can keep winning and overtake the Tigers once again. The Royals picked up a game with a 4-3 decision at Chase Field Wednesday with just enough hitting and pitching to get the job done. Yordano Ventura picked up the win with a pair of runs plated over six frames. KC mustered just five hits but Mike Moustakas was the hero with two hits including a homer and four RBI's. Jeremy Guthrie hopes he has righted the ship when he takes the bump at Arizona on Thursday. Guthrie had been struggling until he tossed six scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory over Oakland.

I know the Diamondbacks season is over from a competitive standpoint but for the sake oof pride I'm sure they still want to win as many games as possible and finish a bad season with some positives to look back on. The Snakes had their chance Wednesday but as it has been all too many times in 2014, things didn't go their way. Josh Collmenter gave up three runs through six innings which turned out to be a loss when Matt Stites allowed a 9th inning run. Arizona pounded out 12 hits and walked twice with Aaron Hill, Mark Trumbo and David Peralta knocking in runs. Lefty Vidal Nuno looks for his first win with the Diamondbacks when he squares off with surging Kansas City. Nuno has gone 0-2 with a 3.07 ERA in five outings since coming over from the Yankees.
I don't like the way Guthrie has been throwing and I think Nuno has the edge here but at the price it's the hot team or walk away which might not be a bad idea...
