The San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Thursday in MLB doubleheader action from American Family Field. The Giants are fresh off a series versus the Dodgers. After a split in the first pair, in the Wednesday rubber match San Francisco lost by four. As for Milwaukee, they just finished up against the Rockies. Milwaukee also split their first pair, then on Wednesday the Brewers fell by four runs as well. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Francisco posted a 7-4 victory over the Dodgers in game one Monday, but then lost 6-3 in game two. In the finale, the Giants gave up four runs in the eighth inning in a 7-3 loss. Alex Cobb went 4.1 innings in the start with three earned on seven hits and three walks.

For the game one starter role, the Giants are sending out Scott Alexander. This year Alexander has a 1.69 ERA with six Ks and no decisions so far. As for game two, San Francisco didn’t immediately announce a name. It’ll likely be a bullpen game.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they took a 6-4 win over the Rockies on Monday then fell 10-7 in the Tuesday matchup. In game three, Milwaukee gave up four runs in the second inning on the way to an 8-4 defeat. Starter Eric Lauer gave up seven earned on six hits and a walk with four Ks across 2.2 frames.

The Brewers’ starter for game one Wednesday will be Corbin Burnes. This year Burnes is 9-6 with a 3.02 ERA and 200 Ks. As for game two it’ll be Freddy Peralta. So far Peralta is 4-3 with a 3.56 ERA and 73 strikeouts.

GAME 1 PICK: I’m going to try the Giants in game one. Burnes has been struggling lately, going 0-1 over his last three games. In that span Burnes has given up 14 earned over 15.1 innings on 20 hits and six walks. San Francisco should have some early opportunities, especially if Burnes continues the statistical trend.

GAME 2 PICK: I will probably lean Milwaukee in game two. Peralta hasn’t gotten a decision in any of his last three games, but he’s doing pretty well overall. In that stretch Peralta has three earned in 17.0 innings on six hits and four walks. I like him to keep it going and put the Brewers in a good spot.
