The Tampa Bay Rays look to break out of their slump with a win at Wrigley Field on Saturday.

When the Rays traded ace David Price we new they were calling it a season as they came to the realization he wasn't going to get the team in to the postseason by his lonesome. The Rays had dropped six of eight heading in to Friday's opener at Chicago and came up with a 4-3 win in ten innings. Chris Archer gave up a pair of runs (one earned) but did not get a decision with Brad Boxberger allowing a 9th inning run. The Rays received a solo homer from Demond Jennings who scored the winner on Kevin Keirmaier's base hit. Tampa Bay turns to Jake Odorizzi on the bump in the second game of their series with the Cubs. Odorizzi is 7-9 on the season with a 4.09 ERA over 22 starts where the Rays have gone 9-13.

Chicago Cubs vs. Tampa Bay Rays Pick-Odds-Prediction - 8/9/14

The Cubs have been playing their best baseball with wins in seven of ten with Tampa Bay coming to Wrigley for a weekend set and were looking to extend their hot streak another day. It was not to be as the offense never got going and the pitching eventually faltered. Tsuyoshi Wada didn't figure in the decision with a pair of runs scored through six frames with Pedro Stropp giving up a run while Hector Rondon absorbed the loss in the 10th. Chicago totaled eight hits with Starlin Castro, Ryan Sweeney and John Baker recording RBI's. Edwin Jackson gets the call to the mound versus visiting Tampa Bay Saturday. Jackson is looking for consecutive victories after defeating the Dodgers 7-3 with a pair ofruns allowed over six innings.

I'm not sold on Odorizzi but he is on the better team even though the Rays are out of the postseason. I'll back the visitors anyway...
