The Texas Rangers and Houston Astros continue their battle to avoid the NL West basement.
The Rangers were supposed to be a factor in the AL West but injuries have taken a toll and poor play hasn't helped no area being a strength. Even Yu Darvish couldn't save Texas with six runs plated (five earned) on nine hits and five base on balls over four innings in a rare off night. The offense totaled ten hits but not a whole lot of damage with Jim Adduci slugging a two run homer while Elvis Andrus singled in another. Rookie Nicholas Martinez looks to pick up his second win of 2014 when he take the bump versus Houston. Martinez has mostly struggled with a 1-8 record and 5.31 ERA over 14 outings.

Houston has definitely looked good at times but the minute you think this team has things figured out they suddenly don't look that appealing. All went as planned Saturday with both the pitching and offense putting up solid numbers. Scott Feldman held the Rangers to three runs on eight hits through 6.1 frames to get the win. The offense took care of the rest with a 12 hit, seven walk attack that saw Jonathan Singleton drive in three runs. Lefty Dallas Keuchel looks to continue his hot pitching versus the visiting Rangers on Sunday. Keuchel has put together some strong numbers with a 10-7 record and 2.89 ERA covering 21 starts.
We can say we see an improving team in Houston but they still have a long way to go which makes the juice a bit tough to swallow. I'll back them but I don't know if I go any further...
