The New York Yankees look to close out their series with the Cleveland Indians with a victory.
I'm sure the Indians are still approaching things as if they still have a shot at the American League Central crown although they haven't been playing well with four consecutive defeats. Neither the arms or bats have been strong in this span until the pitching came up big in a 3-0 decision versus the Yankees on Saturday. Corey Kluber was dominant on the mound with six innings of four hit baseball to go to 13-6 on the season. The Indians rode a two run homer from Jose Ramirez while Michael Brantley clubbed his 17th. The Indians send Carlos Carrasco to the bump makes his 5th start of the year versus the Yankees. Carrasco has struggled in his four starts with 17 runs scored over 21 innings of work.

The Yankees have been keeping pace with Baltimore in the American League East but need to keep winning because the first place Orioles are hot. The Bronx Bombers had won seven of ten before Saturday's defeat where the bats were dead silent. In the process a solid performance from Brandon McCarthy was wasted. McCarthy allowed just a pair of runs on seven hits through 6.1 frames which ended up as his first defeat in pinstripes. The Yanks totaled five hits and walked once while striking out 15 times with everyone in the lineup whiffing at least once. The Yankees are scheduled to start Hiroki Kuroda against Cleveland on Sunday. Kuroda hasn't had the season he wanted but he has rebounded from a slow start with a 7-7 ERA and sub four ERA.
On paper I think New York has the edge in most areas the way Carrasco has been struggling although Kuroda hasn't gotten my full confidence...
