The Philadelphia Phillies make the cross country trip to take the field with the Los Angeles Angels.
Philadelphia has hopes of escaping the National League East basement but they have played .500 baseball in the past two weeks and that won't be enough. A 5-3 loss to the rival Mets put those hopes on hold with a runner thrown out at the plate and fan interference on Chase Utley's homer turned double taking runs off the board. David Buchanan fell to 6-6 with three runs scored over six frames before Justin De Fratus gave up two runs that turned in to the game winners. The Phillies offense totaled seven hits with Darin Ruf connecting on a two run homer with Chase Utley doubling in a 9th inning run. The Phillies send newly acquired Jerome Williams to the mound to squareoff with the Angels. Williams was released by Texas after 12-2 loss to Cleveland where he gave up ten runs in four frames.

The Angels are in desperate need of a few wins after a week long slide is threatening to become a slump that will end their American League West title hopes. Los Angeles has dropped five of six where the offense has disappeared with that trend continuing in a 3-1 loss to Boston on Sunday. Starter Hector Santiago threw a two hit shutout through six frames with the loss going to Joe Smith who allowed all three runs in the 8th. The offense mustered six hits with Mike Trout mashing homer number 27. The Angels are hoping lefty CJ Wilson can turn things around from some very poor outings. Wilson has given up 29 runs on 45 hits over 23.2 innings where his WHIP has soared over two.
Look at what both pitcher's have done and ask yourself why you are betting this. Of course neither offense is killing it so I won't touch this...
