Petco Park and the San Diego Padres play host to the Colorado Rockies in Tuesday night action.
The only thing Colorado can do at this point in the season is knock off a few contenders and take a look at a few new faces with an eye towards 2015. The Rockies bid to win back to back games came up just short in a 4-3 defeat at Petco Park . Jordan Lyles gave up a pair of runs on four hits and a trio of BB over 5.1 frames but missed out on the win when Boone Logan served up a two run bomb in the 7th to take the loss. The Rockies managed three hits and three times with Corey Dickerson providing all the offense with a three run jack in the 6th. Rookie left hander Yohan Flande makes his 7th start of 2014 when he takes the bump at Petco Park. Flande is still searching for his first win as he stands at 0-4 with a 5.77 ERA with the Rockies going 0-6 in his starts.

It might be a longshot but the Padres are likely entertaining hopes of reaching .500 which is certainly doable if they continue contributions from on the mound and at the plate. San Diego won their 8th in eleven contests after Monday's win which featured just enough hitting and pitching. Jesse Hahn was done in by a three run homer through five frames with three relievers finishing the job. SD totaled eight hits with Yangervis Solarte slamming a two run jack with Yonder Aloing solo. Odrisamer Despaigne looks to turn around his recent fortunes against a dangerous Rockies offense. Despaigne has gone 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA with a WHIP of 2.13 in this stretch.
Neither hurler has been throwing the ball well so step two is to look at the offense and that edge goes to San Diego so I'll go with the hotter team...
