The San Francisco Giants and the Chicago White Sox face off on Tuesday at AT&T Park for game one of their interleague series.

The San Francicso Giants are still battling for a spot in the post season but they now trail the Dodgers in the NL West by 4.5 games. The Giants are 29-30 at home, 4-6 in their last 10 games, and they have lost four games in a row. As a team SF is hitting .243 with Hunter Pence hitting .287, Pablo Sandoval hitting .283, and Buster Posey hitting .281. As a team the Giants pitching staff has an ERA of 3.40 with the starters at 3.76 and the bullpen at 2.64. For game one against Chicago the Giants start Ryan Vogelsong who has won his last two starts. For the season Vogelsong has allowed 136 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 109 over 133.2 innings for a 7-8 record and a 3.64 ERA.

San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago White Sox 8/12/14 MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction

The Chicago White Sox are sinking fast in the post-season standings as their hitting has slowed and their pitching has gotten worse. The White Sox are 27-35 on the road, 3-7 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a loss on Sunday. As a team the White Sox are hitting .258 with Conor Gillaspie hitting .313, Adam Eaton hitting .304, and Jose Abreu hitting .304. The White Sox pitching staff has an ERA of 4.39 with the starters at 4.37 and the bullpen at 4.45. For game one against the Giants Chicago starts Chris Sale who lost last time out despite allowing just three hits. For the season Sale has allowed 87 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 138 over 122 innings for a 10-2 record and a 2.14 ERA.

San Francisco is 12-4 against a team with a losing record, 7-21 in their last 28 home games, and 0-6 in Vogerlsong’s last six home starts. Chicago is 4-0 against the NL West, 1-5 in their last six games, and 5-2 in Sale’s last seven starts. Chicago has won their last five meetings with San Francisco.

The total is set at 6 and while both of these pitchers can deal, it is  alean to the over. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
