The Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Wednesday in Atlanta for game three of their series.
The Atlanta Braves continued their skid on Tuesday as they fell to the Dodgers at Turner Field. B.J Upton hit a home run and Justin Upton and Jason Heyward were among those getting hits as the Braves scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Mike Minor had another tough night allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out seven over 6.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-8 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Braves start Ervin Santana who has won six of his last seven decisions. For the season Santana has allowed 135 hits and 59 earned runs while striking out 128 over 144 innings for an 11-6 record and a 3.69 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to lead the NL West and they helped their cause on Tuesday by getting a win. Carl Crawford had three hits, Juan Uribe had two hits, and Matt Kemp and Scott Van Slyke each had hits as the Dodgers scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Dan Haren allowed six hits and two runs while striking out seven over 6.0 innings for the win to raise his record to 10-9 and Kenley Jansen earned his 33rd save. For Wednesday’s game the Dodgers start Hyun-Jin Ryu who has won his last four decisions. For the season Ryu has allowed 30 hits and 47 earned runs while striking out 115 over 131.2 innings for a 13-5 record and a 3.21 ERA.
Atlanta is 2-9 following a loss, 2-12 in their last 14 games, and 4-1 in Santana’s last five starts. Los Angeles is 9-2 in their last 11 road games, 7-2 in their last nine games, and 7-3 in Ryu’s last 10 starts as a road underdog. Los Angeles is 8-0 in their last eight games against Atlanta.
The Dodgers have been hot and the Braves cold and while I fade the Braves plenty, I look for them to come up big here and get the win.
