The Chicago White Sox battle with the San Francisco Giants in interleague action on Wednesday afternoon.
The White Sox are trying to make a run at the .500 mark but that drive has run in to a snag with defeats in seven of ten. Chicago is hoping Tuesday's 3-2, ten inning win at San Francisco was the start of something good. Chris Sale was at his best with eight scoreless innings that turned in to a no decision when Jacob Petricka allowing a pair of 9th inning runs. Adam Dunn connected on a two run homer with Gordon Beckham smacking a two out RBI single in the 10th. Lefty Jose Quintana faces San Francisco for the first time in his career on Wednesday. Quintana has been very reliable with ten consecutve starts with no more then two runs allowed.

San Francisco is still right in the battle for supremacy in the National League West but they haven't been doing themselves any favors the past week or so with defeats in five of six where the offense has stalled. The offense continued to have problems in Tuesday night's defeat which squandered a strong start from Ryan Vogelsong who allowed just two runs on three hits through seven innings with Santiago Casilla taking the loss in the 10th. The bats did have baserunners on nine hits and a pair of walks but did nothing until the 9th with Brandon Crawfor smacking an RBI single. San Francisco gives the ball to Jake Peavy who will be making his 4th appearance since coming over from Boston. In his three starts Peavy has gone 0-3 with a 4.82 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP.
I have no interest in laying the big chalk with Peavy and I don't have a lot of faith in the White Sox to score so I'll probably pass on this but perhaps the visitors steal another...
