The Toronto Blue Jays conclude their series at Safeco Field versus the Seattle Mariners Wednesday night.
The Blue Jays have over taken the Yankees for second in the American League East but the bats and arms haven't been getting on the same page so the losses are outnumbering the wins. It didn't get any better Tuesday in a 6-3 defeat at Safeco Field. JA Happ fell to 8-7 with five runs scored (four earned) on seven hits including a pair of homers. The Blue Jays posted six hits Melky Cabrera, Jose Bautista and Nolan Reimold knocking in runs. RA Dickey takes his knuckleball to the bump to face the Mariners on Wednesday night. Dickey has been up and down at times in 2014 with a 9-11 record and 3.99 ERA over 25 starts.

Seattle has begun to score runs again and with their pitching the wins have begun to add up. This trend has to continue if the Mariners expect to compete for a Wild Card and it did Tuesday night. Both the arms and bats were strong once again with starter Chris Young Improving to 11-6 with two hits and a run scored through six innings pitched. The Mariners totaled eight hits with Kendrys Morales and Kyle Seagar smacking solo jacks while Dustin Ackley rapping a two run single. Hisashi Iwakuma toes the rubber against the Blue Jays for the first time in 2014. Iwakuma has been a strong number two in the rotation with a 10-6 record and 2.86 ERA in 19 outings where the M's are 11-8.
The Blue Jays can ill afford to keep losing as they are fighting for second in the American League East. I am looking at a surging Seattle here...
