The Cincinnati Reds hope to continue their postseason drive at Coors Field versus the Colorado Rockies.

If you happen to be a Cincinnati fan then you are wondering if this team will ever get it together and make a run for the National League Central. I'm thinking their chances are slim as they have dropped four of five after a 5-4 defeat to the Red Sox on Wednesday. Mike Leake had a disappointing start with all five runs plated on eight hits in five frames including a three run homer. The offense put up a fight on ten hits with Leake and Skip Schumaker slugging solo homers. Alfredo Simon takes the ball in the series opener at Coors Field for the second time in 2014. Simon has cooled down from a hot start with an 0-2 record and 4.76 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in this span.

Colorado has really fallen on hard times which is about the only way I can describe their season long struggles. The bottom line is the arms and bats haven't been on the same page and were not in a 5-3 defeat at San Diego on Wednesday night. Tyler Matzek fell to 2-8 with all five runs allowed on eight hits over six innings while striking out nine. The Rockies posted nine hits with DJ LeMahieu cracking his 4th bomb with Charlie Blackmon and Justin Morneau driving in runs. Left hander Jorge De La Rosa toes the rubber versus Cincinnati looking to rebound from back to back shaky outings. De La Rosa has allowed eight runs on 12 hits through 12.2 innings of work.

De La Rosa can be tough at home but his team is obviously struggling while Cincinnati has the better squad but I don't have any faith in them. I'll back them but I won't be a bit surprised with another loss...
