The New York Yankees end their series in the Sunshine State with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The New York Yankees are still in the American League East race although it seems the room for error is small. The Bronx Bombers had dropped five in a row with the bats and arms struggling before breaking in to the win column with a 3-2 decision at Tampa Bay on Saturday. Shane Greene kept the Yankees in the game with both runs plated over six frames with three relievers holding serve. Martin Prado slammed a two run homer with Derek Jeter singling in the winner in the 9th. The New York Yankees send veteran Hiroki Kuroda to the bump in the final game of the series with the Rays. Kuroda is 7-8 on the season with an ERA just north of four over 24 outings with the team going 10-14.

The Tampa Bay Rays drive to reach .500 seems to be getting closer and closer which has kept alive their slim Wild Card hopes. The Rays had won seven of ten before Saturday's defeat where a strong performance on the mound from Drew Smyly went for naught. Smyly allowed two runs over seven frames for a ND while Jake McGee fell to 3-1 with a run scored in the 9th. The offense never got going on seven hits that saw Ben Zobrist and Yunel Escobar knocking in runs with Matt Joyce and Logan Forsythe scoring. Jeremy Hellickson is hoping to give the Tampa Bay Rays another strong performance on the bump Sunday. Hellickson is coming off of a 3-2 defeat at Texas where he tossed six scoreless frames in a no decision effort.
I have struggled picking games where Kuroda has pitch and on the flip side I am not a huge Hellickson fan. I'll back the Rays because they are the hotter club...
