The San Francisco Giants shoot for another win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Thursday night.
San Francisco is still hanging tough in the National League West but I don't think there is a large margin for error. There hasn't been any lately with wins in four of five after an 8-3 victory at Wrigley Field on Wednesday. Jake Peavy gave up a pair of runs on ten hits over seven frames to pick up the win while the offense rode a 14 hit attack. Hunter Pence and Andrew Susac homered with Travis Ishikawa driving in three on a 3-4 night at the plate. Left hander Madison Bumgarner takes the hill in the series finale' versus the Chicago Cubs. Bumgarner has thrown the ball better on the road then at AT&T Park where he has a 1.72 ERA in 14 starts.

The Chicago Cubs have been playing competitive baseball since calling it a season when they traded away some of their rotation. Whether it continues or not has yet to be determined although nothing went well Wednesday versus San Francisco. Starter Edwin Jackson was hit hard with seven runs plated on eight hits and a pair of bases on balls through 2.2 innings pitched. Chicago had plenty of runners on eleven hits but scored on a two run homer off the bat of Chris Valaika and a solo shot by Luis Valbuena. Lefty Travis Wood is scheduled to be on the mound in the final game of the series with the San Francisco Giants. Wood has been struggling with a 5.40 ERA over his last eleven outings where he is winless.
It's tough to go against San Francisco who is enjoying a hot spurt and facing a pitcher who is struggling. I'm backing the Giants but don't like the juice...
