The Los Angeles Dodgers host the San Diego Padres in the last game of their weekday series on Thursday.
The San Diego Padres aren't going to come close to the National League West title but with some games left against both the Giants and Dodgers they might factor in to who does win it. Starter Eric Stults continued his recent hot streak with the lone run scored on four hits over five frames to get the win. The Padres totaled eleven hits with three players driving in runs and three scoring with Rymer Liriano crossing the plate twice. San Diego turns to Tyson Ross on the bump who faces the Los Angeles Dodgers for the 4th time in 2014. Ross has been a solid member of the Padres rotation with a 2.70 ERA over 26 outings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers might be leading the National League West but the way they have been playing can't be comforting. Following Wednesday's defeat the Dodgers have dropped for of five and just don't look fearsome on the mound or at the plate. Roberto Hernandez gave up all four runs (three earned) on eight hits through five innings to take the loss. The offense was stuck in neutral with only six hits and a trio of base on balls to their credit with Matt Kemp's sac fly plating Yasiel Puig. Clayton Kershaw hopes to continue his strong work on the mound in the final game of the series with the San Diego Padres. Kershaw is 14-3 with a 1.86 ERA covering 20 starts where the Dodgers are 16-4.
I don't know if the Dodgers are worth the risk here even though Kershaw on the mound because they might not score which is definitely a concern...
