The Texas Rangers battle the Seattle Mariners in game two of their series on Tuesday night.
The Texas Rangers have won four games over the last week or so and each has come against a playoff contender. The latest came Monday in a 2-0 decision at Seattle behind a great performance on the mound from Miles Mikolas. Mikolas tossed a three hit shutout over eight frames to pick up the win. The offense did just enough on seven hits and four BB with JP Arencibia and Rougned Odor driving in runs. The Texas Rangers turn to Nicholas Martinez takes the ball Tuesday versus the Seattle Mariners. Martinez is 3-9 on the season with an ERA north of five covering 17 outings where the team is 6-11.

The Seattle Mariners are the top team for the American League Wild Card but the room for error is slim even though this is one of the hottest teams in the game. The Mariners took a step back following Monday's defeat which squandered a strong effort on the bump by Roenis Elias. Roenis allowed a single run on three hits and four walks through five innings which was nothing more then a defeat. The bats were stymied on four hits and a free pass with Logan Morrison logging a pair of singles. Left hander John Paxton toes the rubber in game two of the series with the Texas Rangers. Paxton has been solid in only six starts where he has gone 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA over 32.2 innings.
The Mariners are the better team and have advantages in most areas but also had that going for them Monday and lost so no guarantees...
