The Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins face off on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium as they continue heir series.

The Kansas City Royals continue to lead the AL Central and they held their lead on Tuesday beating the Twins. Alex Gordon hit a home run and Alcides Escobar and Salvador Perez each had hits as the Royals scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Danny Duffy allowed four hits and a run while striking out four over 6.2 innings for a no decision as Wade Davis got the win to raise his record to 7-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Royals call Liam Hendriks up from AAA. In AAA this season Hendriks has gone 12-2 with a 2.45 ERA over 143.1 innings.

The Minnesota wins carried a narrow lead for just about the entire game on Tuesday except when it counted allowing two runs in the bottom of the ninth to take a loss. Joe Mauer, Brian Dozier, and Daniel Santnaa were among those Twins getting hits as the Twins scored one run on five hits. Stating pitcher Ricky Nolasco allowed three hits and stuck out six over 7.0 innings but Glen Perkins blew the save and took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Twins start Phil Hughes who has won his last four starts. For the season Hughes has allowed 181 hits and 67 earned runs while striking out 148 over 165 innings for a 14-8 record and a 3.65 ERA.

Kansas City is 9-2 in their last 11 home games, 25-8 in their last 33 games, and 6-1 against the AL Central. Minnesota is 3-8 in game two of a series, 1-6 against a team with a winning record, and 13-5 in Hughes’ last 18 starts as an underdog. Minnesota is 1-6 in their last seven games against Kansas City.

Because of the late pitching change for the Royals from Ventura to Hendriks there is no odds out but regardless I like he Twins in this one behind Hughes.
