Kauffman Stadium and the Kansas City Royals host the Minnesota Twins in Thursday action.
Wins have been difficult to come by over the last few weeks for the Minnesota Twins with the pitching struggling for the most part. The pitching didn't struggle until late Wednesday and the offense did little in a 6-1 defeat at Kansas City. Phil Hughes gave up four runs over 7.2 frames to absorb the loss after shutting out the Royals for seven innings while Oswaldo Arcia doubled in Kennys Vargas with the only run. Left hander Tommy Milone toes the rubber versus the Kansas City Royals in the final game of their series. Milone has struggled the last two times out with 12 runs allowed on 14 hits in 5.2 innings.

The Kansas City Royals might sit atop the American League Central but the lead over second place Detroit isn't ironclad. With Wednesday win and the Tigers loff the Royals picked up a valuable game in the standings. Starter Liam Hendricks gave up the lone run on four hits through seven frames in a no decision effort. Billy Butler and Salvador Perez paced a nine hit attack with a pair of runs driven in during a six run 8th inning. The Royals turn to Jeremy Guthrie on the hill Thursday who takes on the Minnesota Twins for the second time in three starts. Guthrie had problems in the first match up with four runs scored on seven hits including a pair of homers in seven frames.
Even though Kansas City has been doing their share of winning they have to keep going because Detroit is very dangerous and won't go away. I'll back them here and of course I hate the juice...
