The Los Angeles Dodgers continue their visit to Petco Park versus the rival San Diego Padres.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have begun to play well once again which makes it difficult for San Francisco to cut in to their lead in the National League West. The Dodgers do sometimes struggle at the plate which we saw Friday in a 3-2, 12 inning loss with eleven hits and three free passes seeing Hanley Ramirez homer and double in a run with Justin Turner scoring. The work on the mound was outstanding with starter Dan Haren allowing two runs over six frames while six relievers kept the Padres off the board until Kevin Correia lost it. Veteran Zack Greinke will get the call to the hill against the San Diego Padres for the second time this year. Greinke has been strong for the Dodgers with a 13-8 record and 2.79 ERA over 26 starts.

The San Diego Padres might be back to chasing the .500 mark but each time the team begins to play well they lose a few and lose all progress. The offense is generally the problem when things don't go favorably and the bats did struggle in the series opener with six hits through eleven innings before Yamani Grandal's bases loaded two out single won it. Andrew Cashner allowed a lone run on six hits in six innings with Dale Thayer serving up a solo homer in the 8th to set up extra innings. Rene Rivera and Alexi Amarista supplied the RBI's through nine frames with Yasmani Grandal and Rivera scoring. Ian Kennedy draws Saturday's start against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Kennedy has struggled over his last two times out with eight runs plated on 15 hits and five BB over 10.2 innings.
I am going with Greinke here because Kennedy has struggled at times in this match up. That doesn't mean the runs will be easy to come by but hopefully Greinke controls the Padres offense...
