The San Diego Padres hope to stay hot in the series finale' verus the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have yet to right the ship and no one area is at fault with both the hitting and pitching coming up short. The Snakes received a rare strong effort on the hill and at the plate in a 6-1 decision over the Padres on Wednesday. Starter Josh Collmenter was at his best with the lone run plated on five hits over seven frames. The offense made sure the effort wasn't wasted with David Peralta smacking a pair of hits and driving in two while Didi Gregorius scoring twice. Lefty Vidal Nuno will be on the hill to face the San Diego Padres for the second time in two weeks. Nuno has pitched well for the Diamondbacks but is 0-4 with a 3.23 ERA with the team going 1-9 in his starts.

The San Diego Padres are in the midst of a rather strong run with the end goal being a .500 team or better at the end of the season. The defense and offense let the Padres down Wednesday which was their 4th defeat in eleven outings. Andrew Cashner was charged with four runs (two earned) on five hits through seven frames. Seth Smith drove in Alexi Amarista with the lone run with both posting two hits apiece while Yangervis Solarte posted the only other hit. Veteran Ian Kennedy toes the rubber in the final game of the series with the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Kennedy is looking to duplicate his 2-1 victory over the Dodgers where he allowed one run over seven innings.
Just when you get some confidence in San Diego they don't hit which is always a danger with this team. I don't always do well do well with Kennedy so keep that in mind but my thinking is the Diamondbacks are 1-9 with Nuno...
