The Los Angeles Angels hope to continue their winning ways with another victory over the Minnesota Twins.
The Los Angeles Angels dropped back to back games at Houston which isn't a huge deal unless it turns in to a slump. The Angels got back in the win column with a 5-4 decision at Target Field on Thursday as they recovered from a blown 4-0 lead. Hector Santiago allowed four runs over five frames for a no decision with four relievers putting up zeros. A ten hit attack saw four players drive in runs with five scoring. The Angels turn to a white hot Matt Shoemaker who has yet to face the Minnesota Twins. Shoemaker is on the best run of any hurler with three consecutive shutouts covering 21.2 frames.

The Minnesota Twins have been in a slow slide for awhile and are really a team that need both the arms and bats to perform well to succeed because neither are strong enough to win on their lonesome. Neith were quite strong enough Thursday with Kyle Gibson allowing four runs through seven frames with Glen Perkins taking the loss with a run scored in the 9th. An eleven hit, four walk attack came up just short despite a three run homer off the bat of Eduardo Nunez. The Twins threatened in the 9th but failed to score the equalizer. The Twins game two start goes to right hander Ricky Nolasco who has seen the Angels once in his career. Nolasco is in need of a rebound following 12-8 defeat at Baltimore where he allowed eight runs in five innings.
I think betting against the Angels is hoping Shoemaker comes back to earth which he will and the Twins are just dangerous enough to hit him. I'm still backing him but hate the juice...
