The Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners face off on Friday in Arlington for game two of their series.
The Texas Rangers tough season continued on Thursday as they were blown out by the Mariners. Rougned Odor had two hits including a home run, Elvis Andrus had three hits, and Adrian Beltre had a hit as the Rangers scored two runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Robbie Ross allowed five hits and six runs while lasting just 1.2 innings to fall to 2-6 for the season. For Friday’s game the Rangers start Scott Baker who has won in has last three appearances. For the season Baker has allowed 74 hits and 42 earned runs while striking out 47 over 72.1 innings for a 3-3 record and a 5.23 ERA.

The Seattle Mariners continued to keep their position in the AL Wildcard race as they demolished the Rangers on Friday. Chris Denorfia hit a home run on one of his three hits and Austin Jackson, Robinson Cano, and Jesus Scure each had two hits as the mariners scored 10 runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Roenis Elias allowed seven hits and run while striking out just one over 5.0 innings to get the easy win to go to 10-12 for the season. For Friday’s game the Mariners start Hisashi Iwakuma who has won his last four decisions. For the season Iwakuma has allowed 138 hits and 50 earned runs while striking out 127 over 155.1 innings for a 13-6 record and a 2.90 ERA.
Texas is 15-39 in their last 54 home games, 18-53 in their last 71 games, and 6-24 against the NL West. Seattle is 7-1 in their last eight road games, 8-2 in game two of a series, and 9-2 in Iwakuma’s last 11 roa starts. Seattle is 6-2 in Seattle’s last eight games in Texas.
