The San Diego Padres look to avoid getting swept by the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Sunday.
The San Diego Padres drive to .500 has been sidetracked by a four game slide where runs have been at a premium which has been the case for the majority of the season. Runs were plentiful Saturday but the pitching didn't hold up in a 7-6, 12 inning loss at Coors Field. Eight relivers saw innings in this one with Joe Weiland starting and allowing four in 2.1 innings before Jesse Hahn gave up the winner in the 12th. The Rockies offense saw Tommy Medica go solo with Jedd Gyorko going deep and driving in two while Cory Spagenberg knocked in two more. The Padres are scheduled to start Tyson Ross to the hill versus the Colorado Rockies. Ross has been the ace of the San Diego rotation with a 13-12 record and 2.60 ERA with the team going 15-14 in his outings.

The Colorado Rockies have obviously struggled in 2014 so a few wins would be considered a big deal because winning hasn't been easy. Colorado won their third straight Saturday behind a big night at the plate. Jorge De La Rosa gave up three runs through 5.2 frames but the pen coughed up a three run lead to go to extras tied 6-6. The Rockies hammered out 18 hits with Justin Morneau leaving the yard and driving in two with Michael McKenry homering and knocking in two more. Left hander Franklin Morales gets the call to the mound to match up with the San Diego Padres. Morales was blasted last time out with seven runs scored over 4.1 frames in a 10-9 win versus San Francisco.
Morales has done well in this match up and so has Ross but his season has been marked by a lack of support. No interest for me but I'll take the better odds...
