The Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals face off on Tuesday in Cincinnati for game two of their series.
The Cincinnati Reds had no answers with their bats on Tuesday as they fell to the Cardinals on Monday. Brandon Phillips had two hits and Devin Mesoraco had a hit as the Reds didn’t score a run on three hits. Starting pitcher Dylan Axelrod left after retiring one batter as it was many Parra who took the loss and fell to 0-3 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Reds start Mike Leake who has no decisions in three of his last four starts. For the season Leake has allowed 192 hits and 76 earned runs while striking out 143 over 190.1 innings for a 10-11 record and a 3.59 ERA.

The St. Louis Cardinals continued their push towards the post season as they took out the Reds on Monday. Matt Adams hit a home run and Matt Carpenter, Matt Holliday, Randal Grichuk, and Kolten Wong each had two hits as the Cardinals scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Shelby Miller allowed three hits and struck out four over 7.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 9-9 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Cardinals start Micale Wacha who had a no decision in his last start as he returned from the DL. For the season Wacha has allowed 78 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 86 over 93.1 innings for a 5-5 record and a 2.80 ERA.
Cincinnati is 8-21 in their last 29 games, 3-10 against the NL Central, and 1-5 in Leake’s last six starts. St. Louis is 9-1 in their last 10 games, 24-9 against the NL Central, and 1-8 in Wacha’s last nine road starts. St. Louis has won their last six games against Cincinnati.
