The Houston Astros continue their series with the Seattle Mariners at Safeco FField on Tuesday.
The Houston Astros are red hot heading in to the series opener at Safeco Field with wins in seven of ten with outstanding pitching leading the way. The Astros cooled off for a day in a 4-1 defeat at Safeco Field with late inning relief doing them in. Brad Peacock threw five scoreless frames before Michael Foltynewicz gave up a run and Tony Sipp two in the 8th. The Astros rapped out seven hits with Jose Altuve connecting on a sac fly to plate Robbie Grossman. Houston sends Colin McHugh to the bump to face the Seattle Mariners for the 4th time in 2014. McHugh is riding the momentum of back to back wins where has allowed three runs in 14.2 frames.

The Seattle Mariners are back on the winning track with their eyes on a Wild Card. The M's have been impressive the past week or so with a five game win streak snapped at Texas on Sunday. The Mariners jumped right back in the win column following Monday's win with another great start from Felix Hernandez and some late inning scoring. Hernandez tossed a five hit shutout through six innings but did not receive a decision. The M's had plenty of runners on eight hits and six bases on balls with Brad Miller ripping a three run tripple while Austin Jackson singled in a run. Rookie left hander Roenis Elias gets the ball versus the visiting Houston Astros on Tuesday. Elias is hoping to build off of a 10-2 win at Texas where he allowed the lone run on seven hits in five innings.
McHugh might be the hotter hurler but the Mariners are fighting for a postseason berth. I'll back Seattle and look further in to this...
