The Cincinnati Reds travel to Wrigley Field to open a series with the division rival Chicago Bears.

The Cincinnati Reds have been playing well as of late but could win out and still stay at home to watch the postseason. The Reds finished off their series at Milwaukee with a disappointing 9-2 defeat where nothing went right. Starter Mike Leake allowed three runs over six frames with the game getting out of hand when Logan Ondrusek gave up five 7th inning runs. Todd Frazier slammed his 26th bomb and Ryan Ludwick smacked an RBI single to highlight the offense. Cincinnati hands the ball to Alfredo Simon who opposes the Chicago Cubs for the 5th time this season. Simon has slowed down from a hot start and is 14-10 with a 3.48 ERA over 29 outings.

Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds Pick-Odds-Prediction - 9/15/14

The Chicago Cubs haven't been at their best over the last few weeks as the long season heads in to the final weeks. The Cubs were saddled with another following a 7-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday with both the pitching and hitting coming up short. Starter Jacob Turner struggled early with seven runs scored on seven hits and a trio of bases on balls through 4.1 innings of work to fall to 5-10. Chicago managed four hits and five bases on balls with Chris Coughlin and John Baker recording RBI's. Left hander Travis Wood is scheduled to be on the hill to face the Cincinnati Reds for the third time in 2014. Wood struggled in a 10-4 loss to Pittsburgh with seven runs allowed on nine hits in 1.2 frames.

Banking on Simon isn't the solid option it once was earlier in the season and Cincinnati hasn't lived up to the predictions but here I am backing them...
