The Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox face off on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium as they continue their series.
The Kansas City Royals are in a fight for a spot I the post season but their hopes took a hit on Tuesday as they los to the White Sox. Norichika Aoki had four hits, Alcides Escobar had two hits, and Alcides Escobar had a hit as the Royals scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Liam Hendricks didn’t last long as he allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out three lasting jus three innings as Kelvin Herrera took the loss. The Royals look to bounce back as they start Yordano Ventura who has won five of his last seven decisions. For the season Ventura has allowed 153 hits and 60 earned runs while striking out 140 over 165 innings for a 12-10 record and a 3.27 ERA.

The Chicago White Sox are looking ahead to next season and they showed they have plenty of bats to take with them as they beat the Royals on Tuesday. Adam Eaton had four hits and Conor Gillaspie, Avisail Garcia, and Dayan Viciedo each had two hits as the White Sox scored seven runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Chris Bassitt allowed six hits and three runs while lasting just 3.2 innings as Eric Sukamp got the win and Zach Putnam earned the save. For Wednesday’s game the White Sox start Chris Sale who has won his last two decisions. For the season Sale has allowed 116 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 192 over 163 innings for a 12-3 record and a 1.99 ERA.
Kansas City is 9-3 against a left-handed starter, 2-6 against the AL Central, and 7-2 in Ventura’s last nine starts. Chicago is 5-2 in their last seven games, 4-11 following a win, and 2-7 in Sale’s last nine road starts against a team with a winning record. Chicago is 2-7 in their last nine games against Kansas City.
If the season ended today the Royals would be in the post season but the White Sox are motivated spoilers and they have Sale going so I will take them in this spot.
