The Oakland Athletics look to end their series with a win over the visiting Texas Rangers.

The Texas Rangers have been playing their best baseball over the past week and their fans are wondering where this team was a few months ago. The Rangers won number five in a row in a 6-1 victory at Oakland with all their runs scored in the 9th. Derek Holland allowed a run in 6.1 frames for a ND and the pen kept the A's offense in check. JP Arecibia paced a nine hit attack with a three run blast in the 9th to lead the visitors to consecutive wins over the Athletics. Nicholas Martinez is scheduled to face the Oakland Athletics for the second time this season. Martinez has not had much success in 2014 with a 3-11 record with an ERA just south of five.

Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers Pick-Odds-Prediction - 9/18/14

The Oakland Athletics had the best record in the game a month ago but the Angels havee refused to lose and the A's have slowed and are just trying to hold on for a spot in the postseason. Despite Wedneday's defeat Oakland remained in line for the top Wild Card with Seattle also losing. Starter Jeff Samardzija appeared to be heading for the win before the pullpen had a 9th inning meltdown that saw Texas score six times. Samardzija threw scoreless baseball for eight innings before Sean Doolittle allowed five runs with only one out recorded in the 9th. The A's totaled seven hits and walked four times with Sam Fuld driving in Adam Dunn. Sonny Gray toes the rubber versus the Texas Rangers for the 5th time this year. In four starts against the Rangers, Gray has allowed just six runs on 20 hits covering 29.2 innings pitched.

Once again the Athletics are huge favorites and just like Wednesday I will go with the Rangers because of the huge odds on a struggling team that appears to have chemistry issues. This is an obvious longshot so do with it as you will...
