The playoff hopeful Seattle Mariners squareoff with the Houston Astros in AL West action Friday.
The Seattle Mariners would like nothing better then to string together a few wins because they haven't locked down a Wild Card and aren't playing well. The Mariners are hoping Thursday's 3-1 decision over the Angels provides a much needed spark that carries over. The M's were saved by their pitching with Felix Hernandez tossing a three hit shutout over seven innings while recording eleven strikeouts before Fernando Rodney hurled a shaky 9th where the tying run was at the plate. Logan Morrison was the offensive hero with a three run bomb in the top of the 9th. Taijuan Walker toes the rubber for the 4th time in 2014 when he faces the Seattle Mariners Friday night. In three starts Walker has logged a 1-2 record with a 3.60 ERA covering 15 innings of work.

The Houston Astros have nothing to play for but pride at this point and could really throw a Monkey Wrench in to the postseason plans of the Mariners. They will need to rebound from Thursday's 2-1, 13 inning defeat however and finding some offense wouldn't hurt. Scott Feldman gave up a single run through eight innings in a no decision effort with Samuel Deduno allowing the winning run. The offense never got going on eight hits and a trio of free passes with Jake Marisnick driving in Dexter Fowler. Brad Peacock draws the series opening start with the Houston Astros Friday hoping to continue his string of solid pitching. Peacock is 1-0 over his last three appearances with a 1.62 ERA in this span.
Wow...not much to go on here as I could make a case for either team. I think the over is a possibility but I'm not confident with this game...
