The Washington Nationals look to build momentum for the postseason as they visit the Miami Marlins in an NL East matchup.

The Washington Nationals won 6-2 against the Marlins last night as starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez pitched seven innings allowing two runs and the offense was active early with a five run fourth inning en route to an 11 hit night.  Bryce Harper had three hits and scored a run, Anthony Rendon had two hits and scored twice, and Wilson Ramos and Jayson Werth each doubled in the win as the Nationals inched closer to securing the top seed in the NL playoffs.

Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction 9/19/14

Doug Fister will take the mound on Friday night in what has been one of the most impressive campaigns of the season.  Fister enters this game with a WHIP of 1.13 and ERA of 2.55 while posting a 14-6 record on the year.  The righty Fister has been less effective on the road with an ERA of 3.08 and has yet to face the Marlins this year.

The Miami Marlins dropped the series opener last night as starting pitcher Brad Hand allowed six runs on eight hits over five innings to dig an early hole and the offense managed just two runs on six hits.  Giancarlo Stanton didn’t play after recovering from getting hit in the face with a pitch and Jeff Baker led the team with two hits and an RBI while Reed Johnson also had a hit and drove in a run.

Tom Koehler will make the start for Miami on Friday looking to continue his successful run at Marlins Park.  Koehler enters this game with a  WHIP of 1.28 and ERA of 3.71 while posting a 9-9 record.  The righty Koehler has a 2.68 home ERA over 13 starts and has dominated Washington with a  1.38 ERA across two starts and 13 innings.

This game should belong to the pitchers so despite the low total my play is on the under.
