The Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins conclude their weekend series Sunday at Target Field.
The Cleveland Indians began 2014 with hopes of making the postseason for the first time in forever but they appear to be a few pieces away from that goal. The pieces were in place Saturday in a 7-3 victory at Target Field. Starter TJ House allowed both runs on six hits over five frames to pick up the run. The offense didn't waste the effort with a ten hit, four walk attack that saw Yan Gomes go 3-4 with a homer and four RBI's with a pair of runs while Mike Aviles tripling in two more. Corey Kluber is scheduled to be on the hill to face the Minnesota Twins for the third time in 2014. Kluber has been on fire with three consecutive victories with 1.11 ERA and 0.90 WHIP.

The Minnesota Twins have been playing well but if you have watched this team the problem is they can play well for a week and suddenly hit the skids. The Twins took one on the chin Saturday with the work on the mound and at the plate struggling. Starter Trevor May was charged with all seven runs on eight hits and and a pair of free passes through 4.2 innings. The Twins had chances to score a bit more on ten hits but 14 strikeouts hurt them. Brian Dozier cracked his 21st homer with Jordan Schafer rapping an RBI single. Anthony Swarzak gets the ball in the final game of the series with the visiting Cleveland Indians. Overall Swarzak has logged a 3-1 record including two starts with a 4.42 ERA and 1.42 WHIP.
Kluber has been the Indians best option on the mound so in my view the pitching edge belongs to Cleveland. I like their offense versus Swarzak as well...
