The Milwaukee Brewers look to keep their slim postseason hopes alive in the series opener versus the Cincinnati Reds.
The Milwaukee Brewers have led the NL Central for the majority of the season but have fallen on hard times the past month or so and need help to grab the final Wild Card. The offense has not been scoring and that trend continued in a 1-0 defeat at Pittsburgh on Sunday. Starter Wily Peralta was a victim of little support with a lone run scored over seven frames ending up as nothing more then a loss. The Brew Crew managed six hits and never threatened. The Brewers hand the ball to Mike Fiers in the opener versus the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night. Fiers has been outstanding in eight starts with no more then three runs allowed.

The Cincinnati Reds have had health concerns for most of 2014 and the offense they were counting on never showed consistency which has had this team looking towards 2015 for awhile. The sliding Reds ended a five game losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals in Sunday Night Baseball.Alfredo Simon came up big on the bump with both runs scores through seven innings to up his record to 15-10. Todd Frazier and Devin Mesoraco went deep with the latter driving in three while Jay Bruce homered twice and knocked in three more. Ace Jonny Cueto takes the hill against the Milwaukee Brewers looking for win number 19. Cueto is 18-9 with a 2.33 ERA despite very little support at times yet he still has a shot at 20 wins.
I base this pick on me wanting Cueto to reach 20 wins which is a long shot because Cincinnati can not support him consistently because if they did he would already be there...
