The Miami Marlins host National League East rival the Philadelphia Phillies in Thursday action.
The Philadelphia Phillies head in to Thursday's tilt with the Marlins looking for some offense after Wednesday's 2-1 decision. The Phillies can thank the pitching for this one with Kyle Kendrick coming up with a gem with the lone run scored on six hits over seven frames to get the win. The offense didn't do much and didn't need to with Kendrick going 3-3 with an RBI while Marlon Byrd went 2-4 with a run knocked in. David Buchanan toes the rubber versus the Miami Marlins for the third time on the year. Buchanan has been throwing the ball as well as he has all season with quality starts in nine of ten outings.

The Miami Marlins seem to have put away the bats over the last week with nine runs scored in five contests. That trend continued Wednesday which squandered a very good outing from Brad Hand who allowed a single run through seven innings while the loss went to Chris Hatcher who gave up an 8th inning run. The Marlins offense never got going with seven hits and a base on balls to lean on with Enrique Hernandez knocking in Garrett Jones with the lone run. Tom Koehler is scheduled to be on the hill versus the Philadelphia Phillies looking for his 10th win. Koehler is 9-10 with a 3.76 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP covering 31 outings where the Fish have gone 14-17.
I believe Koehler might be the better choice because he has performed well in this match up although I don't see an advantage big enough to exploit so better odds for me...
