The Milwaukee Brewers look to keep their heads held high for next season as they host the Chicago Cubs from Miller Park.
The Chicago Cubs took advantage of a dejected Brewers team on Friday night, winning by a score of 6-4. The Cubs got an inning or more from six pitchers in the win and registered four of their nine hits for extra bases as Chris Coghlan had a HR, double and three runs scored. Javier Baez added three hits, two RBI’s and two runs scored and Anthony Rizzo hit his 27th double.

Tsuyoshi Wada makes the start for the Cubs on Saturday in the midst of an impressive debut campaign at age 33 from Japan. Wade enters with a WHIP of 1.20 and ERA of 3.22 with a 4-3 record across 12 starts. The righty Wada has been worse on the road with a 3.86 ERA over four starts; Wada was effective in his lone start against the Brewers allowing two runs on five hits over 6.2 innings of work.
The Milwaukee Brewers are stuck playing out a regrettable finish to what started as a breakout season. The Brewers had five of their eight hits last night for extra bases as Jean Segura doubled and homered with three RBI’s, Ryan Braun and Khris Davis doubled, and Carlos Gomez had two hits. The pitching simply wasn’t up to par for Milwaukee last night with starter Jimmy Nelson conceding five runs over 4.1 innings.
Wily Peralta will take the mound looking to finish a strong campaign. Peralta enters his final start with a WHIP of 1.32 and ERA of 3.62 while posting a 16-11 record. The righty Peralta is slightly worse at home with a 3.88 ERA and he’s also been battered by the Cubs with a 5.68 ERA across three starts.
The Brewers aren’t in great form from a playing or mental perspective which creates a little bit of value on a Cubs team that doesn’t look all that enticing.
