The Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs close out their 2014 MLB seasons as they face off on Sunday at Miller Park.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look back at this season and wonder what could have been but at the very least they got the win on Saturday against the Cubs. Jonathan Lucroy had three hits, Carlos Gomez hit a home run, and Rickie Weeks and Jean Segura each had two hits as Brewers scored two runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Wily Peralta allowed five hits and a run while striking out 13 over 7.0 innings to earn his 17th win of the season and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 44th save. For Sunday’s game the Brewers start Mike Fiers who is 6-4 with a 1.92 ERA this season and 1-2 with a 1.59 ERA in his last three starts.

The Chicago Cubs have big things to look forward to next season including a revamped Wrigley Field but on Saturday it was more of the same as they took the loss. Anthony Rizzo had two hits and Chris Coghlan and Ryan Klash had hits and the Cubs scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out four over 5.0 innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Cubs start Kyle Hendricks who is 7-2 with a 2.46 ERA for the season and 1-1 wit a 4.00 ERA in his last three starts.
Milwaukee is 9-21 in their last 30 games, 3-7 in their last 10 Sunday games, and 5-0 in Fiers’ last five home starts. Chicago is 7-3 against a right-handed starter, 2-8 in their last 10 road games, and 9-1 in Hendricks’ last 10 starts. Chicago is 4-1 in their last five meetings against Milwaukee.
Milwaukee folded badly at the end of the season and it is only fitting they end the season with a loss.
