The Line: Pittsburgh Pirates -105 / San Francisco Giants -105 --- Over/Under: 6 See the Latest Odds

The San Francisco Giants take the field at PNC Park to face off with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Wild Card.

After missing out on the playoffs a year ago San Francisco regrouped and made a strong run for the National League West title before settling for the Wild Card. The Giants appeared to be the team to beat in the division as they were the top dog before the Dodgers took over and held on down the stretch with SF being a bit erratic. The offense can light up the scoreboard or they can struggle to score and when the runs are difficult to come by so are the wins. Left hander Madison Bumgarner gets the start in the Wild Card battle with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bumgarner has been the best Giants hurler with an 18-9 record and 2.98 ERA in 33 outings.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. San Francisco Giants - 10/1/14 National League Wild Card

After not tasting the postseason in what seemed to be an eternity the Pittsburgh Pirates are participants for the second consecutive season. The Buccos didn't back in to the playoffs but took matters in top their own hands as thes losses were far and few between in the closing weeks of the season and weren't eliminated from the National League Central race until the final day of the regular season. The strength of this team is a better then average rotation and the weakness is at the plate. Having said that the Buccos have still won with little run support which says volumes because sometimes three runs is classified as an offensive explosion. Edinson Volquez toes the rubber in the NL Wild Card against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. Volquez is one of the hottest pitchers in the postseason with back to back shutouts.

San Francisco will likely be a big public favorite and rightfully so with the rings to show their success. I am going with the Pirates who were racking up the wins in crunch time and came within an eyelash of winning the division...
