The St Louis Cardinals go on the road for game one of the NLDS versus the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The St Louis Cardinals are always somewhere near the top of the National League Central and 2014 was no different although they didn't lock up the division until the final day of the season over the hard charging Pirates. The Redbirds had a low profile for most of the season with Milwaukee taking charge of the Central and threatening to run away with the division before fading while the Cards got hot. St Louis didn't stand out in any one area with a team BA of .253 and an ERA of 3.50 with leading hitter Matt Adams posting a .288 average while Jhonny Peralta connected for 21 homers. The Cardinals send ace Adam Wainwright out to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in game one of the NLDS. Wainwright had an outstanding 2014 with a 20-9 record and 2.38 over 32 starts.

The defending National League West champion Los Angeles Dodgers didn't look all that threatening early on as San Francisco stormed to the top of the division and appeared to be the best team in the game. The Dodgers eventually regrouped and the Giants slowed enough for LA to wrap up the division in the final week of the season. There was no historic run that we witnessed in the second half of 2013 but the team reached 94 wins so something went right. What went right is this team could hit and score and had the pitching to win in several ways. The LAD hit .265 as a team with 4.43 runs while posting a 3.40 ERA. Yasiel Puig led the offense with a .296 BA while Adrian Gonzalez slammed 27 bombs. The Dodgers turn to Clayton Kershaw on the hill to oppose a dangerous St Louis Cardinals on Friday. Kershaw will win the Cy Young award with his 21-3 record and 1.77 ERA.
Two of the best pitchers in the game says scoring will be kept to a minimum but this is a crazy low total. Big odds on Wainwright and the Cards and that gives me something to think about...
