The Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics play game two Tuesday night at the O.co Coliseum.
The Texas Rangers are coming off a 8-0 loss in which they didn’t get a single hit until the top of the eighth inning. In fact, Ryan Rua was the only Texas player to produce a hit all game, while Robinson Chirinos and Elvis Andrus are the two other players who got on base. It certainly wasn’t the start the Rangers wanted, especially with the way things played out last season. Still, it’s just one game for the Texas Rangers, and they have to at least be happy that their team is healthy heading into Tuesday’s action. Colby Lewis gets the nod, and he was 10-14 with a 5.18 ERA and 133 strikeouts last season. Lewis is 8-4 with a 3.23 ERA and 109 strikeouts in his career against the A’s.

The Oakland Athletics rod the back of Sonny Gray, as he was the best pitcher in all of Opening Day. Also in the victory, Stephen Vogt produced three RBIs and Craig Gentry had three stolen bases. The Oakland Athletics had four players with at least two hits and also played above-average defense. All in all, it was a solid performance from the A’s and a small reminder to all of baseball that this team is prepared to make some noise once again. Jesse Hahn takes the hill, and he was 7-4 with a 3.07 ERA and 70 strikeouts last season. This will be Hahn’s first career game against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 8-22 in their last 30 road games vs. a right-handed starter and 10-3 in their last 13 games as an underdog. The Athletics are 4-10 in their last 14 home games and 21-10 in their last 31 home games vs. a right-handed starter. The Rangers are 8-3 in Lewis' last 11 starts vs. Athletics.
Now that the Rangers aren't facing Gray, I expect the bats to wake up. Lewis has also had great success against the A's in his career. I'll take my chances with the plus money in this spot.
