The Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins meet Tuesday night for game two at Marlins Park.
The Atlanta Braves won their season opener in a ugly 2-1 pitching fest. Nick Markakis picked up both RBI in the victory and had the only stolen base of the game, while Alberto Callaspo got on base twice. The Braves did a solid job of making contact, but Freddie Freeman struck out twice and Christian Bethancourt went 0-4. Either way, the Braves will take the victory after being picked to be one of the worse teams in the league in a rebuilding season. The Atlanta Braves have won four of their last six dating back to last season. Alex Wood gets the ball, and he was 11-11 with a 2.78 ERA and 170 strikeouts last season. Wood is 2-3 with a 3.76 ERA and 43 strikeouts in his career at the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins can’t be pleased with their performance after failing to score with the bases loaded and nobody out in one inning. Martin Prado and Marcell Ozuna each had two hits in the loss, while Dee Gordon had Miami’s only RBI. Giancarlo Stanton, Michael Morse and Jarrod Saltalamacchia all had a rough day at the plate by striking out twice. The Marlins struck out seven times overall and just couldn’t get going offensively. It was an overall frustrating day for the Miami Marlins, a team that many are picking to be a surprise team this season. Mat Latos gets the ball, and he was 5-5 with a 3.25 ERA and 74 strikeouts last season. Latos is 3-3 with a 3.28 ERA and 40 strikeouts in his career against the Braves.
The Braves are 4-9 in their last 13 vs. National League East and 1-6 in Wood's last 7 road starts. The Marlins are 2-5 in their last 7 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series. The Braves are 26-11 in the last 37 meetings in Miami.
Yesterday's game was flat out awful offensively and both teams missed chances to put even more runs on the board. Now that each team has a game under its belt, I expect a better showing from each club. I'll play the over in this game.
