The Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants face off on Tuesday in game two of their NL West series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks rallied late on Monday but failed to get enough done to get a win as they dropped their season opener. Ender Inciarte and Aaron Hill each had two hit and Jacob Lamb drove in three runs as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Josh Collmenter allowed 10 hits and five earned runs while striking out four lasting just 4.2 innings to take the loss. For Tuesday’s game the D-Backs start Rubby De la Rosa who comes over from the Red Sox where he was 4-8 last season with a 4.43 ERA striking out 74 over 101.2 innings.

The San Francisco Giants started their World Series title defense with a win beating Arizona on Monday. Joe Panik and Angel Pagan each had three hits and Norichika Aoki, Casey McGehee, and Brandon Crawford each had two hits as the Giants scored five runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Madison Bumgraner allowed six hits and a run striking out three over 7.0 innings to get the win and Santiago Casilla earned the save. For Tuesday’s game the Giants start Ryan Vogelsong who was 8-13 with a 4.00 ERA last season striking out 151 over 184.2 innings.
Arizona is 15-36 in their last 51 games, 5-2 against a right-handed starter, 7-20 against the NL West, and 1-5 in their last six home games. San Francisco is 4-1 in their last five games, 7-3 in their last 10 road games, 1-4 in game two of a series, and 0-5 in Vogelsong’s last five road starts.
De la Rosa makes the switch from the AL to the NL which is usually a plus but I still see us getting odds with the beter team that is the Giants.
