The Kansas City Royals hope to keep swinging the bats in game two of their season opening series with the Chicago White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox suffered across the board breakdowns in a 10-1 defeat at Kansas City on opening day Monday. Newcomer Jeff Samardzija was not sharp with five runs scored on six hits and a trio of bases on balls over six frames to absorb the loss. Dan Jennings followed with three runs allowed in 2/3 of an inning before Kyle Drabek gave up two more in 1.1 innings. The offense didn’t pose much of a threat on five hits and as pair of walks but Jose Abreu was a bright spot, going 1-3 with a solos jack and a walk while Conor Gillaspie was 1-2 with a double and a walk. Lefty Jose Quintana draws Wednesday’s start against AL Central foe the Kansas City Royals. In 32 outings in 2014 Quintana went 9-11 with a solid 3.32 ERA in just over 200 frames.

The Kansas City Royals opened 2015 with a bang after hammering out a 10-1 victory versus AL Central rival the Chicago White Sox Monday. The Royals were strong in all phases with starter Yordano Ventura allowing four hits including a solo homer through six innings pitched with three relievers tossing a scoreless inning each. The KC attack pounded out 13 hits and added five bases on balls with every starter but one hitting safely. Alex Rios paced the offense with a 3-4 effort with a homer and three RBI’s while Mike Moustakas went deep and scored twice. Alex Gordon drove in a pair with Kendrys Morales scoring twice with Akcides Escobar scored three times. Kansas City sends left hander Danny Duffy to the bump to face the rival Chicago White Sox Wednesday. Duffy was outstanding a year ago with a 2.53 ERA in 25 starts but was only 9-12 because he seldom received support.
The Chicago White Sox are 2-9 in their last 11 Wednesday games and are 5-14 in their last 19 road games while the under is 8-2 in Quintanas last 10 Wednesday starts. The Royals are 8-2 in their last 10 home games with the under going 10-3 in their last 13 Wednesday games while Kansas City are 10-3 in their last 13 games following a win. Head to head the over is 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings and the under is 6-2 in Quintanas last 8 starts vs. KC. This could go either way so I'll back the home team with the offense in the opener...
