The Miami Marlins shoot for their first win of the 2015 season when instate rival the Tampa Bay Rays visit Friday.
The Tampa Bay Rays have a few changes in 2015 but it’s too early to tell whether that’s a good or bad thing. The Rays pitching was tagged for 12 runs during an 0-2 start to 2015 before coming through in a 2-0 victory against visiting Baltimore on Wednesday. Jake Odorizzi came up big with a two hit shutout with seven strikeouts over 6.2 innings pitched with three relievers completing the whitewash. Tampa Bay needed the gem because the bats totaled just five hits but walked eight times with Desmond Jennings and Logan Forsythe driving in Evan Longoria for both runs. Rookie Matt Andriese makes his major league debut against the Marlins. In 2014 Andriese was 11-8 with a 3.77 ERA for AAA Durham.

The Miami Marlins are looking for some offense when the Tampa Bay Rays visit after scoring just three times in their three game set with Atlanta. The Marlins fell to 0-3 in the young season following a 2-0 defeat to the visiting Braves on Wednesday. In the process a great performance on the mound from Tom Koehler went by the wayside. Koehler served up a two run homer to AJ Pierzynski in the 7th to absorb the loss while allowing five hits and three bases on balls overall through six frames. The offense posted six hits and walked twice with Michael Morse swinging the big bat with a pair of base hits. Veteran Dan Haren makes his first start of the season with the Miami Marlins after spending 2014 with the Dodgers. Haren was 13-11 with a 4.02 ERA with the Dodgers in 32 starts.
The over is 7-2-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 10 on grass and are 7-2 in their last 9 interleague games while the over is 9-3-1 in the Rays last 13 road games. Miami are 2-8 in their last 10 home games while the under is 7-2 in Miami’s last 9 home games while the Marlins are 18-7 in their last 25 interleague games. Head to heat the under is 8-1-2 in the last 11 meetings in Miami while Tampa Bay are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Miami. I don’t know what to expect from Andriese and Miami hasn’t hit a lick so take this for what it’s worth…
