The Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers face off on Saturday at Progressive Field for game two of their MLB series.
The Cleveland Indians had won two of their first three games but they were never really in Friday’s game against the Tigers. Michael Bourn and Carlos Santana each had two hits and Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley each had hits as the Indians scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Zach McAllister got lit up lasting just four innings while allowing 13 hits and five earned runs while striking out five to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Indians turn to their number one starter, Corey Kluber, who allowed three hits and two runs while striking out seven over 7.0 innings while taking the loss in his first outing of the year at Houston.

The Detroit Tigers have yet to lose this season winning four the fourth time this season in as many games bludgeoning the Indians on Friday. Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, and Yoenis Cespedes each had three hits and Nick Castellanos hit a home run as the Tigers scored eight runs on 18 hits. Alfredo Simon allowed seven hits and three earned runs while striking out three over 5.1 innings to get the win and Joakim Soria earned his first save of the year. For Saturday’s game the Tigers go with David Price who allowed five hits and struck out five over 8.2 scoreless innings getting the win on opening day at home against the Twins.
Cleveland is 7-2 in Saturday games, 10-5 as a favorite, 19-9 in game two of a series, and 21-5 in Kluber’s 26 home starts. Detroit is 6-13 in their last 19 games as a road underdog, 1-4 against a team with a winning record, 5-0 against the AL Central, and 2-6 in Price’s last eight starts following a quality start in his last outing. Detroit is 26-10 in the last 36 meetings of these two.
This looks like a good game for the fans meaning a tough one for the bettors but baseball is all about value so getting Price as a dog seems to be the play here.
