The Milwaukee Brewers face the Pittsburgh Pirates looking for their first win of the 2015 campaign.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have had issues getting both their arms and bats on the same page on the way to an 0-3 start. The Buccos finally got everything pointed in the right direction and picked up a 6-2 victory on Friday in the series opener at Milwaukee. Starter Jeff Locke was at his best with both runs allowed on seven hits and a walk over six frames to pick up the win with four relievers keeping the Brew Crew off the scoreboard. Pitt mustered ten hits and a pair of walks with Pedro Alvarez and Sterling Marte smacking long balls and knocking in two runs each with Alvarez scoring twice. Vance Worley makes his first appearance of 2015 when he faces the Brewers at Miller Park. Worley made 18 starts for the Pirates a season ago with an 8-4 record and 2.85 ERA.

Like their counterparts the Milwaukee Brewers have struggled on the mound and at the plate in the early going. The struggles continued in Friday’s 6-2 defeat that has the Brew Crew staring at an 0-4 start to the season. Mike Fiers had problems on the mound with five runs plated on seven hits through five innings although he had good stuff with eight strikeouts. The Brewers had opportunities at the plate with nine hits and a pair of free passes but managed just a two run double off the bat of Adam Lind that plated Jonathan Lucroy and Khris Davis. Right hander Jimmy Nelson gets a shot at the Milwaukee rotation when he takes the bump Saturday. Nelson appeared in 14 games a year ago with 12 starts where he went 2-9 with a 4.93 ERA.
The under is 15-5 in Milwaukee’s last 20 overall while the under is 15-5 in the last 20 on grass with the Brewers going 9-25 in their last 34 overall. Head to head the Pirates are 36-76 in the last 112 meetings. I’m not sure Worley is a great option for the Pirates and I’m not sure he isn’t but I believe he has the better team behind him at a dog price…
