The Line: Boston Red Sox -118 / Washington Nationals +108 --- Over/Under: 8 See the Latest Odds

The Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox begin a three-game series Monday afternoon.

The Washington Nationals are off to a slow 2-4 start and are still struggling to put runs on the board. The Nationals have scored three or less runs in five of their first six games and have struggled to get on base overall. Yunel Escobar leads the Nats with seven hits, while Michael Taylor and Wilson Ramos have combined for six RBI. Bryce Harper has struck out nine times in 23 at bats. The Washington Nationals were the overwhelming favorite to win it all, and while it’s not time to panic, this certainly isn’t the start the team or fans anticipated. Jordan Zimmermann gets the nod, and he’s 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and four strikeouts this season. Zimmermann is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his career against the Red Sox.

Red Sox vs. Nationals - 4/13/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Boston Red Sox play their first home game after taking two of three from the New York Yankees. The Red Sox offense has gotten off to a fast start, producing 34 runs in their first six games. Xander Bogaerts leads Boston with 11 hits, while Hanley Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia have combined for 11 RBI. David Ortiz has three hits in 23 at bats. The Boston Red Sox offense is living up to the hype so far, and they’ve won 11 of their last 13 when scoring more than three runs dating back to last season. Rick Porcello takes the mound, and he’s 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA and four strikeouts this season. This will be Porcello’s first career game against the Nationals.

The Nationals are 10-4 in their last 14 road games and 51-21 in Zimmermanns last 72 starts. The Red Sox are 59-25 in their last 84 vs. National League East and 8-21 in their last 29 home games. The Nationals are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

The Red Sox offense should do extreme damage in their small ballpark. I also expect Porcello to have a better outing than he did in his first start. I'll take the home team for the cheap price.
