The Milwaukee Brewers go on the road to face the St Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium Monday.
The Milwaukee Brewers are struggling in the early going and are in need of a momentum swinging win. That didn’t happen Sunday in a 10-2 defeat to visiting Pittsburgh where nothing went favorably. Starter Kyle Lohse gave up four runs on eight hits over eight frames before Tyler Thornburg let the game get out of hand with six runs plated in the 9th. The offense never got going with five hits and four bases on balls with Carlos Gomez leading the way with a two hit afternoon with a homer and both RBI’s. The Brewers open the series at St Louis with Matt Garza on the hill on Monday. Garza is looking to get his first win after opening 2015 with a 5-2 defeat to Colorado where he allowed four runs on eight hits over five innings.

The St Louis Cardinals are hoping to string a few wins together and establish themselves as the team to beat in the National League Central. The Cardinals took a step in that direction in a come from behind 7-5 victory at Cincinnati on Sunday in ten innings. Starter Carlos Martinez appeared to be in control with a pair of solo homers allowed through six innings before Seth Maness gave up two runs in 2/3 of an inning with Randy Choate allowing another without recording an out. The Cards totaled ten hits and six walks with Matt Carpenter swinging the big bat with a homer and four RBI’s with two runs Jhonny Peralta going deep and driving in two more while Kolten Wong scored twice. St Louis turns to ace Adam Wainwright in the series opener against visiting Milwaukee. Wainwright was at his best the first time out where he shutout the Cubs 3-0 on the road with a five hitter in six frames.
The under is 9-1 in the Brewers last 10 road games while Milwaukee are 2-11 in their last 13 games as an underdog and 3-14 in their last 17 road games. The under is 8-3 in the Cardinals last 11 road games while St Louis are 38-17 in their last 55 home games and 20-9 in their last 29 games as a favorite. Head to head the over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings while Milwaukee are 21-45 in the last 66 meetings. I don’t like the juice but I do like Wainwright and the Cards…
