The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians wrap up their quick two game series this Wednesday afternoon at Progressive Field.

The Chicago White Sox (3-4) scored two quick runs in the first and got a quality start from Jose Quintana to defeat the Cleveland Indians, 4-1 on Tuesday night. Jose Quintana (1-0, 4.09 ERA) went 6.0 innings, giving up just 1 run (0 ER) on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. David Robertson struck out the side in the 9th inning to earn his 2nd save of the season. Offensively, Adam Eaton and Tyler Flowers each had two hits for the White Sox. Jose Abreu hit his 2nd homerun of the season, a solo shot in the 5th inning. The top of the White Sox line-up was solid on the night as the 1-5 hitters went a combined 6-19 with 3 RBI’s. Chicago was 2-7 with RISP and left 4 on base.

Indians vs. White Sox - 4/15/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

It was a rough night right from the start for the Cleveland Indians as not only did they take the loss, one of their best pitchers, Carlos Carrasco was hit in the face by a line drive that knocked him out of the game in the 1st inning. Carrasco (1-1, 2.84 ERA), who the Indians just signed to a 4-year extension, looks as if he did escape any major injury as X-Rays have come back negative and shouldn’t miss any extended time. Zach McAllister pitched well for Cleveland in relief, going 3.2 innings, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits. Cleveland couldn’t get much going with the bats, as they were only able to get three hits in the game. Leading the way for the Indians was Mike Aviles (1-3, 1 BB) and Ryan Raburn (1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI).

The White Sox are 5-9 in their last 13 overall and 3-8 in their last 10 games as an underdog. The Indians are 1-5 in their last 5 games as a favorite of -110 to -150 and 9-3 in Bauers last 13 home starts.

The White Sox will send John Danks (0-1, 6.35 ERA) to the mound who is coming off a tough first outing against the Kansas City Royals in which he went 5.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk. Cleveland will send Trevor Bauer (1-0, 0.00 ERA) who was impressive in his first start of the season against the Houston Astros, going 6.0 innings, giving up no runs or hits while striking out 11.

Although Bauer looked mighty impressive in his opening outing, he can have some control issues and although it’s a small data sample (21 AB), the current White Sox roster is hitting .429 off Bauer. John Danks hasn’t fared much better in his career against Cleveland as the White Sox in a combined 210 at-bats are hitting .290 off Danks. With both teams having past success against each other’s starter, I’m going go with the over in this one.
